Prevention of withdrawal the education for Roma children

Tuzla Municipality, Social Work Center Tuzla, Tuzla the Police Station and the Association of Roma Women "Better Future" Tuzla signed the Agreement on the Establishment of Cross-sectoral Commission for preventing withdrawal of Roma children from primary education with emphasis on the Roma girls.

The document stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004 adopted an Action Plan on the Educational Needs of Roma and Members of Other National Minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. By this Plan to the Roma who are the largest ethnic minority in Bosnia and Herzegovina enables the formal equality of access to the right to education. At the Council of Ministers, 14 July 2010th, defined are four goals and 47 measures in order to Roma children have equal status in the availability of quality education.

Cross-sectoral joint action committee in Tuzla will be based on continuous cooperation in promoting the importance of basic education in the Roma communities and ensuring a regular and systematic collection of data on coverage of Roma children in primary schools. It will be promoted greater participation of parents of Roma children in the work of the school, as well as the implementation of joint actions and initiatives to improve the education of Roma children. Planned to adopt written Rules of Procedure in cases that children leave primary education. It is planned to develop and launch initiatives to adopt an action plan for the education of Roma children in Tuzla Canton.
